I was a little concerned when i considered buying this item, as many similar items had negative reviews, either that soil kept clogging it up or it was not possible to push it into the lawn.
I had no such problems. Handy piece of kit that did the job required perfectly. Had to clear the prongs out every so often but not a huge deal and a job easily carried out with a long screwdriver.
A great piece of kit at a great price!

I admit I ordered this item as it was the cheapest version on offer, sometimes I regret this. Not here though, it's a chunky one-piece steel item with a powder paint coating that looks quite durable. I've tried it out and it seems to work as well as can be expected. Some reviewers on similar items complain these don't work as described, then state they have chalky or stony lawns. Well I have both. The device still generally works, and after several uses the earth plugs start to get forced out of the tops of the hollow tubes, showing that you're not just compacting the earth down at the bottom of the hole. Of course, on my lawn they get bunged up with stones from time to time, and need to be cleared with a bamboo cane. I can't think any of the more expensive aerators are going to avoid that problem, so I'm very happy with this item.
